Michael Champion, a.k.a. Sable Alexander has been a respected leader in the DFWLGBTQ community for years Michael and his partner Bill Linzee took over the Miss Gay Texas State at large pageant system and added the Miss Gay Texas State title, making it a two division pageant. Sable was Miss North Texas pride 2021. Michael always had a big heart and enjoyed working and serving in the community raising money for many charities and worked tirelessly growing the Texas state pageant system. Michael was a nurse and lost his battle with Covid in January 2021. Known to many of us simply as we all miss him greatly.

The night I captured the title of Miss Gay Texas State was one of the most rewarding moments of my life. This opened doors to so many more opportunities and made so many friends along my journey. I continue to support the system by being an active Prelim promoter along with my counterpart sister Veronica Reyes. As we close out another year, congratulations to our title holders Sapphire E-laine Taylor, and Makayla Taylor Skyy on a job well done.

The night I won Miss Gay Texas State at large 2023 was one of the best nights of my life and career I won not only the crown, but the respect and love of a Texas State family who I cherish dearly till the day I pass on. This title made me whom I am today, with love and compassion to our community and the respect that I bring. To me is giving to the community one dollar at a time. I am now you’re newly crowned Miss Imperial Pride 2025, Mother Michael award winner for Latin entertainer of the year and female all around entertain of the year 2025 and 2026. Miss Gay Texas State thank you for giving me a platform for moving forward in my career. I might be going on 55 years of age, but I still got more to show our community. Good luck to all the contestants and keep looking up because that’s where it all is 2024

It was such an honor having the opportunity to represent the Miss Gay Texas State Pageant system as your Miss Gay Texas State at large 2020 and 2021. I was beyond grateful to get to reign alongside Miss Candi Carol. I didn’t know it then but we became such close friends and I truly gained a sister during our time together giving back to the community has always been so important and being a part of this pageant system has truly been life-changing. Looking back 10 years ago, one of the most unforgettable, joyful milestones in my life was being crowned Miss Gay Texas State at large 2016. That night was more than a crown. It was a dream realized, a moment of pride and a reflection of every ounce of love hard work and purpose I poured into my journey. It wasn’t just about the title. It was about what it represented, being able to stand in that spotlight and use my platform to uplift and serve the LGBTQIA plus community brought me so much joy. I met people whose stories had changed me. I was given the chance to inspire, to connect, to show others, especially those who felt unseen, that they matter that they are powerful, beautiful, and worthy of celebration. To this day, it remains one of the greatest accomplishments of my career, not just because of the crown, but because of the impact, and for that I will always be grateful.

This system has been mislabeled and through the work of the reigning title holders, formers and contestants. It has grown into a respected system that continues to attract more participants. The tagline during Sabrina Starr and my reign was "a professional system that promotes the art of female illusion while presenting excellence that gives back to our community" I chose this system as I wanted to help others and show that there are no barriers. I was overwhelmed when my name was called, but I knew that this was an opportunity I was able to perform, help other organizations, forge friendships and sisterhoods, not just in the metroplex or Texas, but across the US. I was able to break down stereotypes and present our system to people that normally would not have accepted us, so to those that followed our reign, I thank you for carrying on the legacy. To the contestants, always remember that there can only be two each year. If it isn’t your year don’t be discouraged, dig deeper, and come back stronger. To the new winners, hit the ground running as you are making a legacy for yourself. Carry yourself with pride, but always be humble reach out to those before you for help and guide the ones that are vying to replace you.

She showed up when she was needed, gave more than was ever asked of her, and continually poured her heart into this organization and the people who call it home. Through her integrity, compassion, and unwavering commitment, she elevated every room she entered and left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
The measure of a queen is not found in a moment, but in the legacy she leaves behind. Makayla’s legacy is one of excellence.
Long after the lights dim and the stage is empty, the impact of a remarkable queen remains in the people she inspired, the standards she elevated, and the example she set.
Her reign was never confined to a crown. It lives on in her legacy.

Although this year brought mountains she never expected to climb, she reached the summit with grace, determination, and a heart full of passion.

   Sapphire E-laine Tailar is a passionate entertainer whose love for drag shines through every performance. She captivates audiences with her authenticity, artistry, and genuine connection to the stage. Whether delivering high-energy production numbers or emotionally driven performances, Sapphire celebrates the creativity, courage, and beauty that make drag such a powerful art form.

   Through dedication, grace, and an unwavering commitment to her craft, she continues to inspire those around her. This may not have been the year she originally imagined, but it has been a year that has shown her strength, resilience, and determination. From the moment we met her, we knew Sapphire had the heart of a true titleholder. The passion she pours into every performance is truly admirable, and her journey reminds us all that greatness is built through perseverance.
